Why Only Cotton?
So...
At OnlyCotton, we believe what touches your skin matters.
For decades, synthetic fabrics such as polyester, nylon and acrylic have become the standard in clothing and underwear. Today, much of the world's clothing contains plastic-based fibres. While these materials are often chosen for cost and durability, they are still forms of plastic worn directly against the body every day.
We believe there is a better option.
Cotton has been trusted for generations because it is soft, breathable, comfortable and made from a natural fibre. That's why our mission is simple: to source cotton-rich essentials for women who want comfort without relying on synthetic-heavy fabrics.
The Microplastics Problem
Microplastics are tiny plastic particles released as plastic products break down over time. Synthetic clothing is now recognised as one of the largest sources of microplastic pollution worldwide.
Researchers have detected microplastics in:
• Human blood
• Human lungs
• Human placentas
• Breast milk
• Human testes
• Human semen

What was once thought to be an environmental issue has now become a human health issue.
Scientists around the world are working to understand the long-term effects of these particles inside the human body, but one fact is already clear: microplastics are now found almost everywhere researchers look.
Fertility and Reproductive Health
Recent scientific studies have identified microplastics in human semen and testicular tissue.
In 2024, researchers detected microplastics in every human testicle sample examined, as well as in the testicles of dogs. The study found significantly higher concentrations in humans than in dogs, highlighting just how widespread exposure has become.
Other studies have detected microplastics in human semen and have linked exposure in animal studies to changes in sperm quality, hormone function and reproductive health.
While research is still developing, these findings have raised important questions about how modern lifestyles and plastic exposure may affect future generations.
Better for Nature
Microplastics have been found in oceans, rivers, soil, drinking water, seafood and wildlife across the globe.
Synthetic fibres shed thousands of microscopic plastic particles during their lifetime, many of which eventually make their way into the environment.
Choosing natural fibres is not a complete solution, but it is one practical step towards reducing our dependence on plastic-based textiles.

The Numbers
• More than 60% of global clothing production contains synthetic fibres.
• Synthetic textiles are considered one of the largest sources of primary microplastic pollution entering the oceans.
• Scientists have detected microplastics in human blood, lungs, placentas, breast milk, testes and semen.
• Research into microplastics and human health has grown dramatically over the past decade as evidence of widespread human exposure continues to accumulate.

Our Mission
We are not manufacturers.
We are curators.
Our role is to search for and source cotton-rich essentials that align with our values and make them available to women who share our appreciation for comfort, breathability and natural fibres.
We believe cotton should be the standard for the garments worn closest to the skin.
Because if it isn't cotton, we don't sell it.
